Heaven and Earth: Heaven

Here we shall discuss what we make of heaven and what it represents for us.
“For so the LORD said unto me, I will take my rest, and I will consider in my dwelling place…(Is.18:4)” From the verse not so frequently quoted we can infer it is generally designated as his dwelling place, his rest. So in terms of Authority the scripture informs us graphically of a throne. “Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool… (Is.66:1)”
Glory of God is holiness and when Mary in her magnificat says holy is his name it is dead giveaway that she was inspired by Holy Spirit(Lk.1:49). Such knowledge of God is the work of the Spirit. God is a Spirit so between God and man the spirit is the medium by which God reveals Himself. The sensitivity of the earth or spiritual discernment therefore is a sign of his Authority. Consequently the earth a footstool is invested with His Presence. The British monarch in throne is an example. Is anyone allowed to come just as close to it when the Queen is seated in her official capacity? Her subjects are let in according to their rank from a distance. Similarly God is heaven reveals his sovereignty where His glory is present. Holy is his name, Amen.
His Spirit is His presence and when He appeared in a vision to Isaiah we know glory of God filled the earth. “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the earth is full of his glory.” His Spirit makes man sit up and note and we read how it made the prophet cry out,’Woe is me!” (Is.6:1-8). It is thus the spirit of God has dealt with man. The Scripture of God refers to it for example as spirit of Christ(1 Pe.1:10-11).
God confided in Abraham about the imminent destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and he explained that the cry of the cities which reached his ears. So spirit of God has a way of catching the ear of God. Cannot Omnipresent God discern our thoughts? But prayer is what man in trust of his Heavenly Father utters and God shall respond accordingly. Let us consider the Psalmist who says, “Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me (Ps.42:7)”. Like prayer of a child of God is known, whenever waves of trouble assail a child of God He shall reach out at the sound of his cry and keep him safe. So heaven is not merely a resting place for God but his Authority which shall in every case places the earth in context. Omnipresent God is One and Absolute, is it not? Then why we speak of it in terms of man and the earth? The Spirit in presenting the Scripture made use of human speech and the alphabets in the Bible are found in so many books but the Bible is qualified as Holy for the simple reason the Spirit is found fit for God’s use.
In the following post we shall analyze the seven days in God’s creative Calendar.
