Ge.3:17-19 “Out of the ground”

Cursed is the ground for thy sake.”

Law of the Spirit is the Word which was God. (John 1:1) It was thus from the beginning. So everlasting covenant conferred blessings on man on the basis the Word was with God, where Jesus Christ as the Man component casts his shadow on the covenant. Adam being created in ‘our image’ recalls the Father Son relationship. The earth the visible world made to appear abides forever because the Law of the Spirit made the unseen worlds made to appear. Faith is the lingua franca between these two worlds. So what shall we make of the ground?

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, ” (2.7). God does a few other things to make his world complete where all his creature comforts are met. “And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food.”(2:9) “And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air.”(2:19). The Spirit while organising the blessings to the man addressed both body and spirit. The law of sin and the law of the Spirit respectively rule these two worlds. God also adds his breath which is as personal as one can get. “And breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”. This signalled that God a Spirit made the law of sin subject to the Law of the Spirit. It is thus the covenant is about equal entities God on part and Man on the other part where Jesus Christ is the ‘only begotten Son’ otherwise designated as the Man. So whosoever entered into the Fellowship of God with man under the Law of the Spirit and not under the law of sin.

We can find a good analogy to explain the two laws: Law of Moses addressed only the law of sin and yet come not under the Law of the Spirit. In rejecting Jesus Christ whom God sent to the world effectively shut out the Law of the Spirit. So what Jesus told Nicodemus dealt with a new creation, of new heart by coming under the Law of the Spirit. Faith was all that needed to enter into the Fellowship.
