The Revelation-Re.17:13-18 “Babylon the great”

“These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.”

What made ‘that great city’ last so long but God let it ‘until the words of God shall be fulfilled’? God does not tempt anyone but those who choose life shall find the way and it was so established for which we have the words of Moses, “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.”(De.30:19-NIV)’

Now is the day of Salvation is about the day specified in the above quote. “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”(He.9:27) The preacher speaks of the time in terms of what man might do and what he cannot even if he had a mind for it. It is to the latter Jesus referred as the night.”As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.”(John 9:4-NIV) So there is a time,”a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,”(Ec.3:2-NIV). It is time where your faith and works do count. We walk not by sight but by faith because God found us worthy to be called in his Son. When we hear the call and receive salvation the works indicate how we should walk. It has to be by faith even as Abraham did. “For he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God”(He.11:10). on the other hand his nephew looked well and saw the fertility of the plains. He chose the cities of the plains which was well watered. Abraham chose life and Lot death. Faith has works to go with it. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”(2 Co.5:10)

Given the day as measured by the predetermined will of God,”who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, “(Ep.1:11-KJV) the beast is not one single entity any more than the great Babylon is one single city. From Sodom to Babylon whose destruction comes in the following chapter is a composite picture of decadence and it is what gives the ‘Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth’ her doctrine. Sale of indulgences, Papal infallibility, *dispensationalism, limited salvation are some of her tenets. All these have worked their way into the waters ‘where the whore sitteth’. It is a two way process for her golden cup must ever be replenished by them

*Dispensationalism maintains that history is divided into multiple dispensations in which God acts in multiple different ways. This is heresy in the face of the Name, “I am who I am.”(Ex.3:14) He declares,”For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”(Mal.3:6). He is the Father of all mercies so he shall not exterminate before time. By everlasting covenant the gospel of God is the Gospel of Christ who shall fulfill the will of His Father. “Jesus Christ is the same. (He.13:8).

Israel as with other nations shall be judged by the eternal word that is settled in the heavens.(Ps.119:89) Truth written in inwards gives each a reading that is not to any interpretation. Either you serve God or mammon.

14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.

17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
