The Revelation- Re.15:1 “Another Sign”

“And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.(v.1)”

This sign in heaven is referring to the one in Ch.12. “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, “

One curious feature of the narrative beginning with chapter is the word ‘temple’ in place of the throne of God in the narrative in preceding chapters. “And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened.”(v.5). What consequences hit the earth when the Lamb broke open the seven seals are now described but from the Jewish standpoint. Gathering of a remnant from the nation of Israel is the crux of the narrative,

So the Holy Spirit mentions “seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God” have a point of reference to the seven plagues that visited the land of Egypt. God performed great wonders through his servant Moses. Here we are seeing from the saints “that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass,” and instead of Moses one of the four beasts, (‘with the face of man’) takes the initiative. “And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God.(v.7). Speaking of vial we have an incident from the life of Elisha.

“And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren./ And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him./ And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the Lord, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land./ So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.” (2 Ki.2:19-22) “Unto this day is an ubiquitous label for Jesus Christ and the word of God. Elisha is a stand in for the Son of man. The four beasts one of them having the face of man speaks of the eternal covenant of God with Man. Throughout the scriptural narrative, Noah Moses David, Elisha et al they serve as a stand in for the Son whom God shall send to the world in the fulness of time. The nation of Israel rejected His apostle and the wrath of God now specifically is directed against them and redemption.
