The Revelation-Re.13:11-14 “The image of the beast”

“Saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.”

The beast in the vision arises out of the sea while the lamb with two horns, nevertheless a beast’ is shown coming out of the earth. The sea is the designated label for nations ever churning up discord and discontentment. For this reason there be no peace, as the much oft quoted verse from Isaiah tells us. They are wicked. The wicked one, the son of perdition is thus man of the people. Populism is the oxygen he thrives on.

On the other hand the earth abides forever. For a reason. It belongs to the Son and according to the everlasting covenant God (elohim-pl) when created man it had to be ‘in our image’. Thus it was. “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him;”(Ge.1:27) This creation bore the image of the heavenly so he was the son of God; as God the Son, the decree would come in force by which the Son, the Man component (in whom all who received him in faith) became part of the heavenly. The body was where the spirit of the heavenly interfaced with the spirit of the earthly. As Christ the head the church was his ‘body‘ which is signified by this line,”Male and female created he them.’

For this reason “The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.”(Ps.115:16) the beast that spoke like the dragon was deceiving spirit.

Why? God a Spirit sent his only begotten Son to the world in order to draw the body the church to be adopted in his Son for heavenly places. The Lamb with two horns only wants the world to worship the man in a image. It may be the fame and fortune associated with televised evangelism and division. He may wax eloquent and deceive but he cannot hide the obvious: the beast was wounded but did live. What is special about it? The beast “having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy” deceived people to equate Jesus talk with wealth.

It is thus the lamb with two horns make the image of the beast more important than being in the image of Christ. His blasphemy made worship of God to none effect as looking up to the beast from whom all his power was devolved. ‘The miracles’ which he could do in the sight of men, similar to crusades that advertised dubious healings. When the beast basked in fame and celebrity status the lamb with two horns would certainly pooh-pooh the humility of Jesus who said, ” My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.”(John 18:36). Blasphemy of this beast is to make the word of God and holiness of God in a bad light.

And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
