Meditations: Pr.2:16-19 “Paths of life”

Every house is built for some purpose. “For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God(He.3:4). Shelter for man is one of the basic necessities and he seeks and does he find it always?

Sound wisdom of God shows the path of life and it is not merely for his creature comforts. Is not the life of man more than meat and drink? So Wisdom having built her house with seven pillars calls out ” Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,/ Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled./ Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding(9:4-6)”. What does fools do? Wisdom crying out in the street is not for them. Their own counsels will do. “The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.(Pr.26:13)”He who denies sound wisdom denies the paths of life. Jesus said,” I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me(John 14:6).”

What happened in Waco and Jamestown tells us how those who chose the house that inclined to death would never return again. Activism of the slackers are to fight the wrong causes and take credit for ‘talents’ that belong to others. Satan is like a roaring lion and sets them as armchair ‘saints’ who may be tempted with an open door whenever they find one. These Pharisees have forsaken the guide of their youth and forgotten the covenant of God. They have set themselves broadway instead and these allow them to determine who is centrist left or right. But we are not of them. We are Christ’s. “But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end(He.3:6)”.

To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.
