“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:(v.1)”
The church is a tabernacle where God dwells among men. (Ex.25:8) The bride of Christ is represented by Eve because she was taken out of Adam whose deep sleep refers to the death of Christ. He is the head and it is represented by the crown of twelve stars.
Crown of 12 stars command number indicating Alpha and Omega aspect of the Son for whom all this are
“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:/And he is before all things, and by him all things consist./And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the pre-eminence (Col.1:16-18)”. In short we have in this vision Alpha Omega aspect of the Son,
What do twelve stars signify? Twelve is command number representing this aspect of first and the last.
Greater light and lesser light Father refers to Son relationship (Ge.1:16)
And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered./And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads(vv.2-3).
In v.3 Satan is represented by red dragon color coded because we see him literally hell bent and on war path. He has 7 heads and 10 horns. Note the numbers. 7 signifies perfection in the sense he is the embodiment of evil. The same number is accorded to the beast whose power is derived from him. The number 10 however tells us a crucial fact. He is judged. Cf. the beast arising out of the sea (Re.13:1) ’seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy’.
In the case of the 12 wells and 70 palm tress at Elim mentioned in Ex.15:27 “And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters”
The Spirit is setting the Salvation Plan of God beginning with the divine Will to the fulfillment by the Son. It is laid out horizontally.
Whereas what we get here in this vision is the same narrative mode which is min max of Alpha and Omega, but laid out vertically.
Min max is a narrative mode employed by the Spirit where great many events are compressed but a symbol connects from beginning till the end. In this case we have the thread of waters connecting the Garden of Eden with the holy city of God.
In the vision events beginning in heaven and stopping at the earth there is a descent and unity is achieved by the dragon as he is cast down from heaven to earth. Min Max as aa narrative mode performs the same task as the principle of Association from earth to the earth and from one end of the globe to the other. It visually represents judgment on the works of the devil. “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.(1 John 3:8)”
In visual terms this narrative mode delineates a cross associated with Jesus Christ.
