Meditation-Psalm 148- ‘In the Heights’

In these concluding Psalms we are given a foretaste of our inheritance in the light. It is our Pisgah moment God revealing what He has in store for us. “And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the LORD shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan(De.34:1)”, Our journey was through fleshpots of Egypt, through the Red sea, wilderness and the plains of Moab. Yes we have traversed through a lot and how did we survive it but by the grace of God? The travel plans of the Children of Israel had to be changed and so have we all managed this far and we have entrusted our lives into our Savior Lord’s hands.

Four months ago when we begun study of the Psalms we considered meditations as our world locked into that of His. Christian Living is seriously undertaken and we are dead to the world and are in heavenly places. ‘In the heights’ is how He wants us appreciate the glory of light with which we were separated from darkness. ‘For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves (Col.1:13-NIV).’ As children of light our inheritance is among saints whom we love as brethren.’We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. (1 John 3:14)”. Let us not get entangled by those who speak of ethnic minorities and white evangelism, -both are spawned from hell. Our Redeemer shall appear in glory and shall destroy their works. We are called to praise him in the heights.

In the last verse (v.14) we have the endorsement from our Lord, He shall exalt our horns, meaning power and glory of being knit together in Him.

Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the Lord from the heavens: praise him in the heights.

Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts.

Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.

Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.

Let them praise the name of the Lord: for he commanded, and they were created.

He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: he hath made a decree which shall not pass.

Praise the Lord from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps:

Fire, and hail; snow, and vapours; stormy wind fulfilling his word:

Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars:

10 Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl:

11 Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth:

12 Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children:

13 Let them praise the name of the Lord: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.

14 He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the Lord.
