“They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice (v.8)”.
The whole earth is included here. Glory of God is indicative of providence mercy and truth with which His creatures rejoice continually.
“O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him(Ps.34:8)” How do we say God is good but by experience of this goodness, is it not? “My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:(63:5)” This experience does not come cheap. It is a crown of glory and of life for which God the Father did not spare His Son. Token of God’s loving kindness is also demonstrated by the earth and heaven so God in purging them of ungodliness creates them new.
Let us briefly consider the opening passage of the creation account. When the Spirit gives us the state of the earth before he created was without form and void.
“And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” “Darkness was upon the face of the deep” nevertheless must have been as plain as a looking glass before the Power and Wisdom of God. “…The darkness hideth not from thee;(Ps.139:12)” It is the glory of God that gave the shape of things to come and forms for instance ‘in bringing many sons and daughters to glory (He.2:10). Here the concept of a tabernacle become implied of a Great congregation or the Church.. We shall consider the everlasting covenant and the eternal word in another occasion but tokens of His goodness were established in divine Mind. “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ(2 Co.4:8)”.
In short the earth like a looking glass is a reflection of heavenly realities. In the epistle of James we have an idea as to what natural man is capable of.”For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.(Jas.1:23-24)”. Whereas the glory that God radiates is about his Son. In bringing many sons to glory He sent his only begotten Son to the earth: “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man./10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings./11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,(He.2:9-11)”
Tokens of God are aimed at perfection so glory associated with God becomes our glory. Mercy of God associated with divine Will is complemented by grace of the Son so Wisdom to make up whatever shortfall is liberty of the Son to fulfill for the glory and honor of the Father. Grace is applied to man, who is made a little lower than the angels,
