“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly(Matt.6:6)”.
We had hitherto meditated upon the Psalms as the heart of the Scripture, which is not about nations, but fellowship every creation holds with the Creator. Our concern is as a man and not for enquiring into other creatures. Our meditation is on the basis of aligning our thoughts, emotions as well as actions as revealed to us by the Word made flesh.
The Word was God and as his ‘only begotten Son,-‘ so the synoptic gospels have broadly given us where our wisdom and power would come from. Not from the world. Had it been mandatory in Jesus’ time to carry passport his status would be as ‘refugee.’ However he as God-human gives us a medium with which to develop the mind of Christ: our physical bodies. Without a body neither Power nor Wisdom shall reveal the Mind of God. In order to understand this let us consider this incident in the life of Jesus “And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples./ And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out (Lk.19:39-40)”. Power to make stones praise God requires Wisdom and had they understanding these would know Omnipotence of the Being.
When we speak of the Lord Almighty it is a Father Son relationship that must be the basis with which grow ‘from glory to glory’ “ But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord(2 Co.3:18). This open face is our body “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do (He,4:13)”. So fellowship of God with man is on the principle of Association where Power holds with Wisdom; God the Father with God the Son, and the gospel preached unto us is clearly laid out in series of steps connecting the dots all the way from the Lord God to man.
In time and place we accept by faith the Atonement offered by the Son and “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life(1 John 5:12)”. So this life we speak about is abundant life that transcends earth time. Unless you cannot accept it of what quality is your meditation, ‘of being hid in Christ’? The Psalmist feels famished like a hart,”As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God(Ps.42:1)”. Or the word of God tastes like honey “How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!(Ps.119:103) In the next Psalm also we shall find verse,”More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb(Ps.19:10)”. This is what meditations would mean where we are before our Heavenly Father without any barriers put up in between. It is this timelessness where our faith is locked into his faith is witnessed by soul. So body soul are two aspects of our lives where body is temporal and the other immortal to which truth is in agreement. The third aspect of spirit is replaced by indwelling Spirit. God is a Spirit and we worship him in spirit and truth is where our faith is like fish in the sea is in its element.
Man as a tripartite being deals with God like a three plaited cord is not easily broken as the wise king would say.
From the key verse we see what prayer means to a child of God. ‘….when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.’ Our meditations is our personal fellowship with God and the world has no place in it and our open reward is when He decides time and place. What is meant the White Throne Judgment.
If God did not reward with riches this world consider as such, it is because God believed the Wisdom that was indivisible aspect of godhead had no need for such dressing. His name was above every other name. Similarly our names being hid in Christ did not require any other reward of being the Body of Christ. What was the mind of Christ?”
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:/6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:/7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:/8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross./9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:/10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;/1 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
So what is our reward but being the glory of God as being adopted in the Son?
