“Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the Lord have created it (v.8)”.
Blessings are conferred from the greater to the lesser,-it is one of the unchanging principles, and forms the ultimate basis for the working of Power and Wisdom. So Power as a principle shall create wisdom alongside in the lesser. This is how God works. As many scriptural passages stand testimony to it , we can safely infer it as the divine principle. The wisdom of the Word creates faith in man make a quantum leap to hitch with the creative Faith.
We have an example of it from the manner God raised Adam though made from dust. Once having the breath he would not settle any animal as helpmeet but a woman. God acknowledged his wisdom so whatever name he gave an animal was indeed so. Principle of Power made his soul lively and wisdom he displayed similarly met the divine standard. To those who have power He also gives wisdom.
Breath of God made Adam a living soul. It is also the case with man. It also serves as basis for faith a spiritual discernment so spirit of man does not remain simply at human level but raises to catch hold of the creative faith of God. Creative faith of God (He.11:3) works as wisdom in a man who accepts Jesus Christ as the Savior. The indwelling Spirit is an added blessing and it is from God. So salvation is not simply a transaction but bears the seal of eternal God.. It is a principle by which God can hold fellowship with man.
So as rains come down so shall showers of blessings pour from above. How life forms evolved may be of great interest to us but for God is nothing but the work of babblers. As the Bishop of old,- too clever for his own good, justified Creationism at the time the Victorian society was riven by controversy. He might have been stumped at the age discrepancy for creation of the earth in six days did not stand in the face of mounting evidence of fossils. Before the substantial body of evidence and irrefutable arguments of TH Huxley and others he bravely tried to defend God by saying that God left fossils around for testing men of their faith. God did not need the Bishop of Oxford to convince He was right. Controversies belong to petty minds no matter what ever was the standing of Samuel Wilberforce or Huxley in that age.
When Prophet Isaiah states let the skies pour and let the earth open we have the working of gospel in its proper order. Righteousness is from the Almighty God and when the earth is ready to receive it the result is as it received something as though it were natural! Consider the verse,”Let righteousness spring up together”. It has become part of the earth in the same manner as faith in man becomes a powerful force by which mountain before Zerubbabel becomes a plain(Zech.4:7). The heaven and the earth as one. Does it not recall those beautiful lines from the Book of Psalms?'”Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other (Ps.85:10)”. Gospel of reconciliation preached by the Son of man and God as the Husbandman speak of the direction it takes. Creation reconciled with the Creator not because of any perceived goodness of man put in addition to the equation but God’s mercy alone. Love of God and mercy are two entities as mercy and truth another. On one hand we have God and in the other we have truth brought by Jesus Christ and grace melding both entities as one. Power and Wisdom of the Word were received by man in faith, and grace did the rest. It is salvation and it is everlasting.
9 Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?
10 Woe unto him that saith unto his father, What begettest thou? or to the woman, What hast thou brought forth?
11 Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.
12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.
13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith the Lord of hosts.
14 Thus saith the Lord, The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.
15 Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.
16 They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols.
17 But Israel shall be saved in the Lord with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.
18 For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.
19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.
