The Book of Isaiah-Is.40:10-17 “Nations”

In one of the earlier posts we had discussed the Voice of the Lord from Psalm 29. It is full of majesty. It is full of Power and Wisdom. So it has an extension as sound waves travel farther from its source. Gospel of God, of Christ and of Paul are eternally indicative of divine Nature. Principle of Association thus connects God and Man. In the Gospel of St Matthew it makes clear that it referred to John the Baptist,”The voice that crieth in the wilderness…(Matt.3:3)”Principle of Association carries from heaven to earth as well as across to far corners. John’s position was that of a messenger while that of Paul as an apostle was to take the gospel to the farthest reaches of the Imperial Rome.

Before we take up the nations let us consider another aspect of the voice which we know is the Word given an expression. The Word was God and he was with God from the beginning. Voice of the Lord God man can only hear through the gospel which is the Gospel of reconciliation by which God the Son became flesh and dwelt among men.”And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,(and we beheld his glory)…(Jn.1:14)” So the voice of God was revealed in human form which has a glory that could have come only from what he really represented. He was the Spirit of Christ indicative of the eternal Word made flesh. It has a glory that can never fade. On the other hand we have a verse from Prophet Isaiah that speaks of his physical form.”…He hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows…(Is.532-3)”
The glory of nations all pomp and circumstance, is compared to a flower and its place among grass indeed can take of our breath away but what are they really?Glory is not in themselves but drawn from grass a symbol for ephemeral world. Spirit of the Lord blows over the glory of the visible world and that is gone. Prophet Isaiah also supplied the key:”Surely the people is grass.” “…For the things which are seen are temporal but the things which are not seen are eternal(2 Co.4:18).”
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance(Ps.33-12)”. God has chosen all who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and they are foreordained before the foundation of the world. It is what we read in the Book of Isaiah:”Open the gates that the righteous nation may enter, the nation that keeps faith(Is.26:2-NIV)”.

10 Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him?

14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?

15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.

17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
