God had foretold that the seed of the woman would bruise the head of the serpent(Ge.3:15). The dragon has been dealt a severe blow but he has recovered his loss as to wage another war but this time he would leave it to a proxy war. It is known as the great tribulation, He has accordingly given his power to the beast for now. As a result the beast is the man of the hour and he has his pomp and circumstance to make world governments work.We are here considering the period leading to the Millennial Reign. His policies to clear the many bottle necks standing in the way are done away in some brutal fashion but effective. For instance migrant crisis shall be solved by calling in Army to shoot aliens/protesters at sight. Messy but the problem has been solved. In not so distant future we shall see such incidents; and their popularity shall ever be so high. We had seen how in fascist countries the dictators saw to the rule of law and order with force silencing strikes and dissent. It would be much an integral approach to their notions of rule of law.
“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?(v.4)”
In the many present day innovations one can see the spirit of virtual reality gaining more support than solid virtue. Social Media concocted by some hucksters are for creating artificial needs and taking advantage of them, It is evident in the many cases where they have been accused of gaining control over personal details of millions and selling them for profit. The socially inept nerds serve as shamans and their religion is profit. More style than substance are qualities than solid virtue. People are taken in by charlatans as we see around us. They are celebrities. So shall their rank swell owing to the beast’s immense powers.
“And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months (v.5)”.
The beast carried a name which is blasphemous. So shall all who are overtly egotistic and attribute all success solely to their own powers. We have seen all these happening in some small measure where dictators are eulogized in the media and worshiped as savior for the suppression of dissent. In Spain and in Chile we saw these after their death, leaving their societies divided and all their ills continuing as before. Were not the people deceived? They laid their trust too soon for those who in the end turned out to be no better than rogues and thieves. In future the beast shall enjoy unstinted praises for a period. Significant is the period of forty and two months, to indicate it is earth time we are considering.
