Gift of the Spirit

Then Peter said unto them,Repent, and be baptized…in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Ac.2:38-39).”
When we consider Christian Living we need understand it cannot be achieved in any place but about the name of Jesus Christ. Promise of the Holy Ghost is to all who believe in the name of Jesus who is ‘both Lord and Christ (v.36)’
Concerning Jesus of the root of Jesse, King David had predicted, “For he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved…also my flesh shall rest in hope.” The sweet Psalmist of Israel King David had known,- that makes him a prophet, fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, would be raised by God to sit on his throne. Historically we read from the Scripture Solomon also was one such who sat on his throne. Solomon was his heir but of Jesus he calls as his Lord, signifying in what context we are to take the meaning. Jesus Christ as anointed by the Holy Spirit is Christ and Messiah.
Since our Christian experience begins with Jesus we are joined together with him in baptism which is one according the word of God (Ep.4:5).”Having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead (Col.2:12-NIV)”. Baptism is a sacrament in which you are symbolically dying to your old nature and we exercise faith to hold death and resurrection of Jesus Christ in that act. It is an exercise of faith, which is the core value similar to confessing before the world that you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord. (The same mode of inversion we shall see here: mouth representing your whole body.)
Repentance, confession, baptism are steps leading a believer into the newness of life “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.(Ro.6:4)”
A Christian in short is dead to the world and alive to the world to come- faith is the basis with which he achieves this feat. The case of Solomon and Jesus of Nazareth runs parallel with our status. Solomon as heir of King of David spoke only one aspect but Jesus as fruit of his loins is also his heir and his Lord and Christ. We are in the flesh but we are raised with Jesus Christ in glory. Christian Living to live both worlds could have come only from the glory of the Father that operated in the case of our Savior Lord. Glory of word in his Promise became our portion because of our faith. On the day of Pentecost God in fulfillment of His promise sent Holy Ghost which we know as indwelling experience of it. Therefore this promise works like an earnest. As many as are led by the Spirit are Sons of God. “(The Spirit) who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession–to the praise of his glory (Ep.1:14-NIV)”.
