Clean Plates: inside and outside

“For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. (He.6:4-7)”

Crucifying Christ second time signifies those who have come to Christ and then have fallen away. They have come to the truth and confessed Jesus Christ as their Savior but they drift away since they want to be in step with the majority. In short their truth has become downgraded as we hear these days, into transactional truth. They have their activism and subscribe to political parties and espouse prosperity theology whereas Jesus lived in order to keep the testimony of his Father,”Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”These ‘smart Christians’ make money and flaunt it to show they are blessed while a great majority of those in their communities live below the national poverty line. Like the rich man in the Parable, they have Lazarus very much in their line of vision but do they care? They have their doctrines as the rich dive had the law of Moses and the prophets. In their blessed lives the poor only have themselves to blame.

“The treatment of our Lord Jesus Christ by men is the clearest proof of total depravity. Those must be stony hearts indeed which can laugh at a dying Saviour and mock even his faith in God!”
Here is a quote I found in the twitter and as much as I admire CH Spurgeon and his sermons I cannot help suspecting that he easily tacked ‘Total Depravity’ as characteristic of those who did not see Jesus as sent from God. When the wisest men, members of the Council rulers and the sects who made up the elect repudiated him (since they were sure their law was the last word spoken on their righteousness) is it to be wondered at if the man on the street and soldiers pressed into service to keep civic peace laughed him to scorn? Spurgeon seems to have forgotten the centurion who from casual observation of the events unfolding before him declared that he was indeed the Son of God (Mk.15:39). Does any one accuse total depravity on the centurion who testified? Here is another: One of the malefactors chided his fellow ‘Does not thou fear God seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss(Lk.23:39-43)”.Some are ready soil and some soil need working over but they produce results. Only that who sows the good seed? Jesus himself said in another place thus: “Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the Kingdom of God before you (Mt.21:31). Significant is the emphasis at the beginning of the quote.

“He that receiveth you, receiveth me…” This association goes all the way to God. Mt.10:40 The cup of cold water you give to even the little one is service done to God. There shall surely come a time when there is a separation of the goats and the sheep, of the children of light and children of wrath.Mt.25: 31-45. Therefore how shall we present ourselves, like clean plates but inside still unclean? Or as plates clean inside and outside?
Remember the parable of the man who got rid of his unclean spirit unravelling in course of time, being stricken with seven more other unclean spirits? Mt.12:43-45
The Church of Laodicea in many ways holds a mirror to the modern Christianity.Re.3:17. Look around you shall hear many pastors excusing indefensible conduct of their politicians. Does it not show partisanship? They shall even cite from the scripture and point out the parents of Jesus and explain away politicians who are accused of child molesting. What business Christians have to dabble in politics and put Christ to open shame?
Seven other spirits: smug, lukewarm, greedy, poor, naked, judgmental and partisanship Mt.12:45 and if Christians now are accused of being least charitable by National Survey do we not see same old Pharisees reincarnated, who flocking to Megachurches to hear their celebrity preachers and are smug in their blessed state?
Jesus rebuked the Pharisee thus: “Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also (Mt.23:26).”
