Testimony of God: fulness of the Son

“Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men (Eph.4:8-11).” St. Paul is referring to the Psalmist (Ps.68:18) who predicted as to the blessing that were to come through the Son of man. Before we discuss the fulness that his place in Core Will  would signify for us we shall consider the use of conjunction ‘wherefore’. St Paul is referring to grace which came with Jesus (Jn.1:17). It is glory of his grace “he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves (Ep.1:5-7).”

From these verses our certainty springs from our sonship and what Jesus Christ signifies in Core Will between God and man. So predestination as a gift is one among many that is provided for in the key verse.

Let us turn to the concept of time. When we have been predestine for our sonship we have been freed from one time scale into another and it is what the Spirit leads us as counsellor and as spirit of truth. Jesus Christ is all in all and through all Ep.4:6. When he ascended…and gave gifts unto men it means we have been freed from time (Ep.4:8-11) . It is Time that is a gift of God the Son. He preached the gospel to all those who never had an opportunity to hear the Gospel of God as made manifest by the Son. He is Firstborn of all creation and from dead. Only he is worthy to be Alpha and Omega. So Predestination as a theological concept can only be explained from his fulness. He is the image of the invisible Father and brightness of glory. He was sent as Apostle and now he is seated on the right hand of the Father as intercessor for us. In short Jesus Christ is God of the living. Those who are dead in Christ is living as far as God is concerned. So when the last trump sounds the dead shall hear,

When St Paul in the epistle to the Ephesians he is using the term captive. It has a bearing on us. We have been freed from time and though we are attending to our needfuls things on the earth we have been translated for heavenly place. While we live in body  we take care that we are not once again bound to traditions and fashions of this world. Because the captain of our salvation has ascended in glory we are in context of our Lord Savior and are in harness. When the call comes we are all soldiers for Christ moving on. Mode of inversion makes his glory as glory of many sons of God waiting to be revealed. Like the symbol of broken pitcher we are in readiness. Speaking of Gideon the sign of the dew on the fleece of wool is a sign for our spiritual bodies. (To be continued)
