Glory of God when translated as giving a form to the earth it is not pointing out any specific geographical feature but what the creatures can benefit from the whole. Power and glory are what give muscle to Natural selection. Consequently nocturnal animals draw their lesson from them in a manner conducive to their development as day creatures. Glory or goodness of the Lord God in whichever part of the earth or part of the day sustains life.
Such supportive system is both physical and also a moral system. It is laid by God. “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?(Jb.38:4)” In what context it is to understood. We read thus: “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?(Ps.11:3). When the Spirit inserts the hymn of praise that Hannah sang, one line makes us wonder. The line is this, “For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s and he hath set the world upon them (1S.2:8).” Who gave her this intuitive understanding? It is not learned from any books. If Hannah has moral sense so has everyone.

What are events but like group waves carrying energy along? Waves are not going any place but energy achieves results. When the air is cut off the flame of the candle goes out. What taught it? Salt has its savor and so have sugar crystals their sweetness. From whence it gained its character? Hyenas with weak hind legs do not stand chance in a lion country. But they do manage to survive. Power and wisdom of creatures depend on the glory of God. ‘The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God (Ps.104:21).
Glory of God sets the earth indestructible in two ways: By the word settled in the heavens (Ps.119:89) and the foundations of the earth laid by God (Jb.38:4). Also significant is the standpoint here is from God the Son and God, the Father respectively.
