Marginalia:a concise guide to the Bible

From the time I could read and write no book has served me for all occasions as a guide and staff as the Bible. During my adolescence and adulthood there were many other books that have diverted me from the love I derived from reading it. But mystery of the Word is not derived from the printed word but the mystery of divine Will in which God the Spirit is the Counsellor as well as Inspirer.

It was not by any coincidence that made me conclude that the many schisms within the Christian world and disputations with the world without, to which I merely mention by way of an example the Creationism vs Darwinism, was needless not to mention self defeating. Vain disputations with the unbelieving according to the secular standards have never won souls as a simple faith in the Word.

Christians hitherto have been looking at the scriptures from the wrong end of the telescope as it were. Marginalia is written to guide any Christian who might have a richer reading experience for his spiritual growth. Merely reading is like man looking at the mirror and forgetting what his face was like as soon as he turns away. The study of the Bible is to equip as to acquire the mind of Christ and be fashioned in his image. It is possible only because the Bible is from God to man so when you read the Spirit is right there,- and faith is His gift to you.

Reason by all means must be adhered to where it is essential but the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit and given from God to man. As such without exercise of faith it is to no avail. For a skeptic body and mind is all there is to while for a Christian it is a trinity of body, soul and spirit. Reason may serve for body and mind but for the inner man can only be maintained by soul to which faith is vital. ‘…That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner

man;(Ep.3:14-17; 2 Co.4:16 ).’

(To be concluded)
