The book of Psalms- meditations

Psalm-1

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly…and his delight is in the law of the Lord (1-2)

In the eyes of the Lord are two groups of people. Ungodly and the godly people. Destiny of these shall be dependent on their goal in life and ways they employ to achieve it. Far above whatever material gains each group may hope to achieve, and beyond their owns strengths pressed in service, there is the undeniable fact that God determines the ultimate outcome.

Blessings from God guide one group while the other forfeit them on the sole point that they do not reckon God in their calculations. Howsoever accomplished or fortified they are with the human agencies they can command in support they shall fail in the end. They are deemed chaff since man who is born of woman is subject to changes and what strengths they relied on are negated by the uncertainty in human affairs.

Whereas godly are not so.

Godly are those who are righteous before God. They draw their counsel from the Word, which is law of God made sanctified by the blood of our Savior Lord.

Ungodly are those who go about without God. They rely in their own counsel and advise of the ungodly. Just to mention a single instance, the ungodly adopt what is expedient no matter how immoral, to succeed their short term goals while the godly rely according to the word that is forever settled in heaven. The world being given to changes sooner or later throws the gains of ungodly into loss. Whereas the godly are secure since their hope is laid on an unchangeable foundation of God.

‘Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity’( 2 Ti.2:19 KJV).

For meditation:

1 Ki 8:56-57 King Solomon’s testimony ‘…There hath not failed one word of all His good promises…’

Josh.1:8 ‘…For the Lord thy God is with thee, whithersoever thou goest.’

Ps.145:20 ‘The Lord preserveth all that love Him, but all the wicked will He destroy.’

Lk.16:19-31 Parable of Lazarus and the Dives. Riches are a blessing from God but these would be a snare for the ungodly.
