Ge.2:7-8 “Adam”

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”

Adam is a creature of two worlds and in terms of image he has a likeness, and Trinity explains this third intangible quality. So creation of Eve is not a simple helpmeet for him but of a body that is glorious. This soul aspect epitomises the family of God. When Adam named Eve he did it as a likeness or as a double for the Man component in the Fellowship of God with Man.

That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:”(Ep.1:10).

His physical body is from dust of the ground. God breathing into his nostrils render him having a position in the heavenly places. He is the son of God.(Luke 3:38). The World of flesh and blood and world of the Spirit are only separated by ungodly men. The Garden of f Eden episode is entirely played out in the world of the Spirit and consequences of Adam’s disobedience playing havoc on the natural world.

Where do we place soul then? Soul explains in context of the image of God and Man, the two parties making the everlasting covenant. Adam also bears relationship to the Word become flesh aspect of the Son. Consequently he signifies as the head of Eve as well as the likeness of the head to the body of the church. Adam says, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” (2:23). So the soul denotes his responsibility over the creation ‘taken out’ of him. This doctrine of Christ is rooted in the covenant. It is like the seed in itself and he shall in season, in the fulness of times present the glorious body,- the Bride of the Lamb has made herself ready explains it. Soul of the glorious body of the church shall be Christ. There is no condemnation to the saints redeemed from the earth.(Ro.8:1)

And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
