Matt.21:43 “Therefore”

Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

At the end of the parable Jesus uses the conjunctive verb to sum up that the nation was forever rejected from the purview of the everlasting covenant. The kingdom of God included the whole family of God. Every saint included in has the fulness of God . It is not of their own works but in Christ “filled with all the fulness of God,”so what St Paul refers to him in the epistle to the church at Colosse is cited. “ For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;/ And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.”(Col.1:19-20;Ep.3:14-19) This kingdom is also named, “the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,/ Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.”

For this reason the earth abides forever where generations after generations of heaven and earth all come under the generation of Jesus Christ. (Ec.1:4).

We shall go through the reasons why Israel as a nation was rejected.

The earth belongs to God. “The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.” (Le.25:23)

and let it out to husbandmen, (21:33)

The vineyard in the Parable specifically refers to Israel. Compare the Song of the Vineyard for my beloved. (Is.5)

And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.” (v.34) Optimal use of the land is instituted by God to which the tenants had nothing to do but deliver the fruits in season.

The householder ‘planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower,’ The hedge refers to the Law of Moses and statutes commandment. This made them people of the law. But where did the fruit disappear?

Without the fruits what are winepress and the tower but like scarecrows in the field? With the tower God served as a strong refuge where the tenants might run to and be safe. Instead they went whoring after foreign gods. They wanted to be like every other nation. There was nothing to honor God, and Isaiah laments,”What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?”(Is.5:4-7)

But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.” In the fulness of time God sent Jesus Christ whom they dragged him out, on trumped up charges, and the place of crucifixion was outside Jerusalem. The v.39 refers to it,”And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.”

Therefore the nation of Israel shall find no place in the kingdom of God, with the same privileges of the many son in glory.
